Admission Requirements
and Qualifications

For international students applying to study at Chinese universities, many factors go into the decision of whether or not to apply to Chinese universities. Some of the most important factors include your grades, test scores, extracurricular activities, and letters of recommendation. Of all these factors, your grades and test scores are the most important when applying to Chinese universities.

English Proficiency

As most of the courses are taught in English, Chinese universities can ask about English proficiency or IELTS scores as part of the admissions process. If you are a native English speaker, your university can consider your admission without any proficiency test. However, if you are non-native of English, then you might have to attend your English proficiency test as an entrance exam or submit your IELTS score.

Entrance Exam

To gain admission to a Chinese university, you must pass an entrance exam. Depending on the university and major, this exam can be divided into a few parts. Such as Mathematics, English language, and Physics. The tests are difficult, so you should prepare for them by studying for the grade 12th Mathematics and other Science group subjects.

Degree

To be admitted to a Chinese university, you must first achieve a certain academic level. This level varies from university to university. You need to have a higher secondary degree or pass 12th grade to apply to a bachelor’s program and an undergraduate degree for a master’s program.

Interview

After all, of that, you will need to have an interview with the admissions office. The interview is not just a formality. It is an important part of the admissions process. The interviewer will ask you about your goals and plans for studying in China and your English language skills. You will also be asked about your academic record and any extracurricular activities you have participated in. As you are applying to study abroad, the interviewer may also ask about your experience living or visiting abroad. This interview is not tough, and you only have to be confident when talking.

Interview

It is important to have a strong extracurricular record. Though it is not a must-needed thing, it can help in your admission process. While no one specific, activity will guarantee admission to a Chinese university, having a strong community involvement record is always beneficial. Suppose you have achieved outstanding grades in high school in terms of academic achievement as well as leadership and participation in extracurricular activities. In that case, you can also be eligible for a scholarship from a Chinese university. The scholarship amount will depend on the specific university you are applying to. However, getting scholarships is always a great opportunity for an international student.
